Office Chair Floor Protectors

office chair floor protectors

It is a fairly common in a home office. You have a chair with wheels on top of a chair mat. The carpet is there to maintain their carpet safe from the damage that can cause roller chairs. But do they do more harm than good?

There is no doubt that the rolling chairs rapid wear your carpet. Because you should never put a chair with wheels on your carpet. Only use on a hard surface. To resolve this problem most people buy a floor protector, which is basically a plastic sheet lying on the floor to protect it. They do protect the soil from damage from the chair but also cause an entirely new problem. To begin the rug under the carpet is protected to the extent not used at all. When you move the table you have a new piece of carpet, surrounded by worn carpet. Cleaning will help, but chances are that the carpet will never be the same again. Another problem that can cause is yellowish. Because the carpet will not allow air to pass through it can trap gases beneath the carpet. These gases that occur when new carpets and gas filling can actually convert the yellow carpet.

So what can you do? The best thing to do is to use a wheelchair at all. Buy an ordinary chair, with legs and not use a mat on the floor at all. If you must use a chair mat, pull it out often and vacuum underneath. When put back, replace slightly. This little of effort just might save your carpets.

Office Chair Manufacturers

by richard on Nov.28, 2009, under Office Chairs

The wheels that office chairs have are also called office chair casters. They often go unnoticed in the office. One employee rolls over to the fax machine. Another goes to his desk and back in front of her computer. People use them without regard and this continues until the casters are not working as it should be.

Office chair casters are awesome when they are in good condition. However, they can be a problem when they are not. Accidents do happen when employees sit and move around their office chairs that have broken or poorly installed casters. To combat this, there is a need to learn more about them, specifically in how to replace damaged casters and in selecting the right type of caster for the office. Studying about basic safety information about chair casters is also important.

Changing office chair casters is a bit easy. This is because most wheels are mounted on steel support posts that are attached to the base. When only the wheel is damaged, the steel posts are likely to still be where it is and they can be taken out using pliers or a screwdriver blade. So one only needs to push the replacement office chair casters tightly to its place. Replacement casters should certainly be available from the chair’s supplier and are usually inexpensive. So it is good to try calling up the manufacturer of your office chair. However, if the base is also broken it is necessary to get a new one though it a little uncomfortable especially when the chair is a bit old. Buying a new chair in this case may be a better option.

Moving on to finding the correct office chair casters for your chair, it is important to match the casters to the floor surface of the office. This is since choosing the wrong types of casters will make it, on one hand, difficult for the chair to move. On the other hand, they can also make your chair skid everywhere. So what are the common kinds of casters and where are they usually used? Most office chairs have casters that are used on carpeted floors so it’s okay if your office has carpets. If the office, however, has a floor surface that is smooth as in tiled, cemented and hardwood floors, it is best to use polypropylene or rubber casters because of their superior grip on these types of surfaces. Chair makers generally furnish the customer with the appropriate casters.

And then it all goes back to some of the basic office chair safety precautions. Always follow instructions on assembling a chair even if it’s not easy. Always do regular check-up on the components of a chair. Refrain from rocking office chairs with casters as they only work at certain angles.

Office chair casters are simple. They are things that people overlook until they are causing problems. Yet what is only needed to keep them in check is a little more attention.

Office Chair Mesh Ergonomic

by richard on Nov.24, 2009, under Office Chairs

office chair mesh ergonomic

Working on a computer for a large part of each day can be challenging, not just with reference to mental aspects but in dealing with physical ramifications as well. You can find yourself stuck in awkward positions for extended periods of time, often without realizing it until one of the dreaded “syndromes” surfaces.

When facing the resulting injuries, there is more involved than personal discomfort. Productivity suffers as employees struggle through pain. Eventually sick time can be taken, and workers’ compensation claims may arise. The cost, both in time and dollars, affects the bottom line, so it is worth a look around your office to determine areas that need to be adjusted.

Even making one change can have significant positive results. For each of the following syndromes, start by focusing on just one area that can provide significant impact as you evaluate your current habits and determine if changes could keep the syndromes at bay.

Syndrome #1: Carpal Tunnel

Over the past years this has been spotlighted as one of the fastest growing injuries in the workplace. While it can occur from any type of repetitive-motion activity, the development of the computer keyboard led to a steep rise in its incidence.

Symptoms:

  • constant pain or swelling in hand or wrist
  • numbness or tingling in hands or fingers
  • difficulty with even small manual tasks
  • problems sleeping

Prescription focus:

Keyboard

  • keyboard tray under desk
  • keyboard tilted away from you so space bar is higher than letters
  • wrist and hand extend straight from your elbow, parallel to the floor
  • palms not resting on keyboard pad while typing, just between stints

Syndrome #2: Postural

This is now overtaking carpal tunnel as the most common workplace complaint. Back pain is so widespread that it has spawned an entire industry of specialists, from surgeons to chiropractors, yoga instructors and massage therapists.

Symptoms:

  • tension in neck
  • shoulders slumping or rounded
  • head thrust forward
  • back pain

Prescription focus
:
Chair

  • sturdy, five-legged base
  • casters to roll easily
  • adjustable armrests to keep forearms horizontal while using keyboard
  • adjustable height so line of vision is at approximately the top of the monitor
  • adjustable backrest, lumbar support & seat pan to match the natural curve of the spine
  • feet flat on the floor or on a footrest
  • ability to recline slightly

Syndrome #3: Computer Vision

Just two hours a day in front of a computer monitor can lead to development of ocular problems.

Symptoms:

  • eyestrain
  • blurred vision
  • headaches
  • dry and irritated eyes

Prescription focus
:
Monitor

  • glasses designed for computer use to sharpen type
  • resting eyes and remembering to blink
  • glare control with dim lights, blinds, visor or anti-glare screen
  • monitor at right angle to window
  • no exotic screen colors (black letters on white background is easiest)

Often your workday is full of pressure. When under stress, you are less likely to pay attention to your posture and other minor irritations. It takes awareness to vary your pace and change habits. The problem is that these injuries occur over weeks and months, and by the time they have hold of you, the habits are entrenched.

The more fit you are, the less likely you are to suffer from ergonomic syndromes. Take frequent mini-breaks to stretch or close your eyes. Get up to get a drink of water. Instead of spending your evenings surfing the Web after a day sitting at your office desk, take a walk or stretch out on a balance ball.

If you are too busy now to take the time for breaks and exercise, you are definitely too busy to have to take time off to recover from chronic injuries. Be aware of the syndromes lurking close by and take measures now to block their incursion into your life.

Office Chair Reviews Ergonomic

by richard on Nov.20, 2009, under Office Chairs

office chair reviews ergonomic

Office furniture chairs come in all sizes, shapes, designs and materials. And while desktops have been around for hundreds of years in one form or another, the modern office chair was first used in mid to late 1800s. The closest thing to a modern office chair was used by Charles Darwin. He put in his wheelchair to move more easily to reach their specimens. Since that time, and especially during the 1900s, the office chair has evolved considerably. Here are some of the types of office furniture chairs that can be found in most offices today.

  • Executive chairs – what exactly constitutes a chair to be called "executive"? Well, there is a defined standard. Many companies just call your best chair executive chair. Overall, this chair is of high quality, and are used by executives who want office furniture possible. These chairs are made of materials first quality at all, are usually covered with leather top and are the type of chair that is made to last. They often have the latest technology to provide ergonomic comfort all day long, contoured to fit your body and fully adjustable. You do not have to replace this chair every couple of years. If you have an "executive" chair that does not last long, then it is enforceable only in name.
  • Task chairs – These are standard office furniture chairs daily that most people use at home. These can be very cheap, acquired in their local discount store for under $ 30, or may be ten times this amount for a good one lasts a while. These can be cloth, leather (real or fake) or made of other materials made by man. Many have ergonomic features, such as support lumbar, and are also adjustable in multiple ways. Most of us can find a task chair that fits our daily use, you just have to take time to test a number of them to discover what works best for you.
  • Mesh chairs – I first saw mesh chair about 15 years ago, although I suppose they have been around a bit more than that. These are basically the task or executive chairs have a mesh back. Most remain completely Adjustable and ergonomic, but the mesh back provides great ventilation and breathability. Some even have made mesh!
  • Wooden chairs – These were found long before furniture chairs modern rel = "nofollow" href = "http://www.businessofficefurniture.com"> office became an ergonomic science, but can still be found today. However, usually only swivel and place upside down and are not ergonomic in other ways.
  • Results and chairs for visitors – these chairs office furniture are often found in waiting rooms or executive offices for guests and visitors to sit in These come in all sorts of styles, do not have wheels and are designed to be quite comfortable. They are usually not very large or excessive padding.
  • Chairs in the conference room – also not very large, often have padded seat and back, sometimes wheels. Designed for many of them to fit around a conference table, and sometimes very nice to match a table high quality.

We have definitely come a long way from sitting on small wooden chairs in our desktops and in our offices. With all styles available, you can find chairs, office furniture for all your office and home office needs.

Office Furniture Sofas

Big Screen TV in a Modest Living Room?

We just upgraded our TV to a 50″ big screen. We have a very modest and homey living room. I don’t know how it’s going to look. It’s not one that stands alone–we have to buy a stand for it but I’m not too sure how it’s going to look. Any ideas on making a big screen fit in a warm and casual living room?

If this helps we already have a lot in the room. One lazy boy, an over sized chair, an oversized sofa (with queen-sized bed), an upright piano (cherry wood), DVD/CD rack, and two large speakers with surround sound. Our home office is also a part of the living room so it’s pretty much just a long room.

The color of the TV is black where as all the other furniture are more neutral colors. Is there anyway to get these piece to fit in or will it always look like the odd ball? Any ideas on stands? Our home is anything but contemporary but that’s the only kind of stand we seem to find.

You can buy a wood entertainment unit to fit it… They can get expensive and most will likely be larger than you want… (Side cabinets and all….)

Are you handy with tools & wood? You can make the stand from wood.

You want the base to be only slightly larger than the TV. Measure and make a pattern one inch longer/wider in each direction. You will need to cut 2 from this pattern. One will be the base, just an inch or 2 off the floor, and the other will be positioned at the heighth you want the TV to sit.

Decide how high you want the stand. Add that height to the height of the TV and add a few inches for good measure. Cut 2 panels of wood this heighth, and as wide as at least the front depth of the TV. (It can go back as far as the whole TV if you desire…)

Cut another piece the width of the side boards and long enough to bridge over the TV and connect the side boards.

Assemble and stain a color that would compliment your other colors. That makes it not look as contemporary and doesn’t cost $2000.

Place the TV in it and enjoy!!!

Office Chair Design

by richard on Nov.08, 2009, under Home Offices

I ate 4,000 calories today and didn’t exercise. Help?

This morning, I got up and had a Slim Fast 250 calorie drink in a can and then worked on the computer. I have a home office where I do photo retouching and graphic design. I sometimes sit at my computer for hours without getting up off the chair. I bought a gym membership but haven’t went since three days ago.

I was doing really good eating wise today until at 10 pm when I had a massive hunger strike. I had only eaten about 1,800 calories total (the slim fast drink and meal bar, dannon fusion yogurt smoothie drink and a sensible 700 cal dinner). I went to Taco Bueno and got a meal plus another taco. It didn’t seem like a lot at the time.

I was curious after I ate it and looked online to see that I had eaten a total of 2,200 calories! I couldn’t believe how many I ate without thinking about it. Is there anything I can do to prevent this overwhelming of hunger from happening again? Please no cruel answers. I need to lose weight for my health and need to stop this self sabatoge!

Hon, we’ve all done this. Please don’t panic. People gain weight in ounces per week while we can safely lose weight at two pounds per week. Just resolve to try to do better starting now.

Whatever you do, do not go on an “exercise purge” (where you exercise until you are ready to drop in a vain attempt to burn off calories) or any type of purge for that matter. Just continue to exercise at the same pace your instructor recommends and tonight won’t make any difference. And remember the cliche: Rome wasn’t built in a day. It takes time to start a new regimen. Don’t beat yourself to death over a setback. Again, we all have them (especially during ‘that time of the month’).

Edit: notice how that one “rant” at you was deleted? That’s because we all reported it. Don’t listen to donkey-sphincters like that.

Office Chair Floor Mat

by richard on Nov.05, 2009, under Office Chairs

office chair floor mat

We are under the gun and deal with more stress every day. More deadlines keep us confined to our desk chair and much of the day to day activities business being conducted by mail, the fax machine, palm pilot, text messages via phone or BlackBerry, video conferencing, telecommuting, There are several updates, and a constant exchange of data and very little time to rest and then many of us are eating our lunch – without ever leaving your desk.

No wonder there are more complaints than ever from poor circulation, back pain, stiff neck, tired legs and lack of mobility, flexibility, and a scattered mind. Never leave your desk or office chair!

Good news for you. I have a few large stretches can be done in the chair or in and around the chair. Delay of 3-7 minutes of your time. Do you think you can spare a minute? Great! Let's get started.

During the coming weeks I will show many easy stretches you can do good on your desktop. Let's start with some easy and good for the back:

Easy Back tranches:

(Spinal Twist)

Step One: Push your chair back from his desk to time stretching.

Step Two: Do not cross your legs and sit with your legs slightly open, which is chair or hip width. Put your feet firmly on the ground. Your hands can rest on top of the thighs, for now. During the stretching please breathe in and exhale through the nose only.

Third step: take yourLEFT hand and cross your right knee. Now take your right hand and hold firmly to the back of the chair. Push the left hand on knee right and twist your body. You look over your right shoulder. Hold for approximately 5-15 seconds. Breathing in and out only through the nose. Release and put your hands on your legs

Switch sides –

Fourth step: take the hand of yourright and cross your left knee. Now take your left hand and stick to the back of the chair. Push your right hand against his left knee and twist your body. You look over your left shoulder. Keep the position for about 5-15 seconds. Breathing only through nose. If you can. Release and put your hands on your legs. You can repeat for as long necessary. It helps to release the spine and back.

New Stretch:

(Tilt to one side)

Step one: Sit with your legs slightly open, which is chair or hip width. Put your feet solidly on the floor

Step two: Take your right hand and place it on the chair seat beside his leg. Sticking to what you find there. You may have to change your seat to make room in the chair next you.

Step Three: Take your left hand and arm, and put it over his head to the right side. Bending right now, and extend your arm and palm of his hand toward the floor near his right side. You are stretching the left side of his body and back with this stretch by bending to the right. Keep the position for about 5-15 seconds. Breathing only through nose. Release and put your hands on your legs. You can repeat for as long as necessary.

Change Accompanied by —

Step Four: Take your left hand and placed on the seat of the chair next to leg. Sticking to what you find there. You may have to change your seat to get some space on the chair next to you.

Step Five: Take your right hand and arm, and put it over his head to the left side. Now bending to the left, and extend the arm and the palm of his hand toward the floor, next to your side left. You are stretching the right side of his body and back with this section, doubling to left. Hold for approximately 5-15 seconds. Breathing only through nose. If you can. Release and put your hands on your legs. You can repeat for as long as necessary.

Let's proceed with a section for today. We will keep and use the same sitting position.

New Stretch –

(Stretch your arms out top and interlock your hands above your head)

Step one: Raise your arms above your head and stretch upward as much as possible. Interlace their fingers. With your fingers interlaced stretch from side to side as you inhale and exhale through the nose. As can be. Do this several times back and forth from right to left.

Step Two: Now let your arms in the middle (long arms upward with fingers still interlocked over his head.) Lean your arms and hands back and push the chest forward slightly. Hold for a few seconds. Release.

Ahhh! Do not you feel better?! For now, with these exercises simple stretch you a little blood flowing. That is one of the key points. It is very important to your desktop once and a while too. Continue breathing and obtain that oxygen to your stomach if you can.

Until next time.
