Oh, no. It is the dreaded word-R! I refuse to even pronounce that word. Are we in one? Are we heading towards? Economists have been arguing about this for recent months and is likely to continue doing so. The reason I like the R-word is not in its effect on my business – in fact some of my best months have been for tough economic times – but because of the effect it could have on my psyche.
See, for me, the R-word seems that people complacent. You 've heard before – "How's business?" "Terrible! Sales are down … is the recession." A recession (no, I said!) gives people something to blame – the reason for his slump. And it's easy to get lazy and resign themselves to the idea that times are difficult and further efforts are likely be wasted.
So do not give in to the R-word! This is what you can do to make your business immune to it:
Increasing efforts sales. hire more sales staff. People are still buying, even in a down economy. It may take a little more work to find them, that's all.
Increase marketing. Become creative, do not have to cost a lot to be effective. E-mail marketing is very effective and cheap.
Increase networking. Join a camera or a local reference group. Get out there!
Find partners of the alliance. Find businesses in complimentary industries that might be a good reference source for you, or vice versa. Partnering with them and try to find a win-win situation, as mutual referral delivery, or a benchmark rate for every reference, since register as clients ..
Make some phone calls more. Stay at work 10 minutes more each day and make some phone calls. Every little effort adds.
Do things you normally do. Think outside the box. Make the phone call. Take a chance. You may have a record month!
