office furniture arrangements
How do you keep in contact with your employers?

I volunteered two summers ago with a Cancer Research group at Duke Hospital. My workload was pretty substantial and wide-ranging, from web design to data entry to planning a change of offices (I designed the new office furniture arrangements on the computer and made sure we could do everything and knew where to place everything).
Basically, my group really ended up liking me, and I got an incredible letter of recommendation for a specific award.

However, I have pretty much no contact with them anymore and that letter was for a specific award, not a general letter. Now that I’m looking for things to beef up my resume with, I realize I have very l have very little ways to do this.

So the question is, how do you maintain relationships with past employers so that you can use their recommendation years in advance? Because I doubt they would be able to write nearly as good of a review now, simply because time has erased memory.

email might be an option , also visit the employers from time to time if that is an option or allowed

Home Office Furniture Desk Set

home office furniture desk set

Comfortable office furniture are necessary for offering seating to customers and clients who must wait for service or for a scheduled appointment. In addition, quality office desk chairs are necessary for maintaining employee comfort and morale.

Office desk chairs can be found in every individual office or cubicle. A comfortable, ergonomic office desk chair is essential for employee satisfaction and a high level of office productivity. Many employees sit for as long as eight hours each workday, with only occasional short breaks. It is important to take preventative measures to prevent injury and to alleviate the stress that is placed on the back from sitting for a prolonged amount of time. For this reason, it is important that office desk chairs offer excellent lumbar support and aid in maintaining proper sitting posture while working.

When purchasing an office desk chair, there are a wide variety of special features available that help to support the lower spine while allowing the user to sit comfortably. Ergonomic office chairs offer adjustable backrests, cushioned arm rests, thick cushioned seating, and lumbar support. Adjustment mechanisms allow the chair to be customized to fit individual body types. It is important to understand how the mechanisms work and to know the proper settings for one’s body. Office desk chairs with defective adjustment mechanisms should be replaced.

The support for most office desk chairs is a five-prong, swivel base that allows the user to easily turn the chair as needed. Castors also allow the chair to easily glide across the floor while completing office tasks. Office desk chairs are available through a large number of suppliers. The cost of office desk chairs varies according to their component materials and what added features they possess. An example of an added feature is a tilting headrest to allow for added neck support. Newer trends include breathable mesh fabric backing that is cooler. This new material also molds to the user’s unique posture.

Executive Home Office Furniture

by richard on Mar.21, 2005, under Home Offices

If you look at any office furniture website or go to any office furniture store you are guaranteed to find a wide selection of leather office chairs ranging in different colors and prices designed to suit any one person’s specific needs. It is safe to say that leather office chairs are one of the most popular chairs to purchase, whether online or in a store, and have been for many years. Whether you are searching for an executive leather office chair to spruce up your work office space or a traditional leather office chair for your home, you are guaranteed to find what you are looking for with all the leather chairs available from a vast array of manufacturers. While most are drawn to leather because it looks good and gives off an aura of prestige, there are many other additional reasons why leather is so appealing.

When someone purchases a genuine leather office chair, they can expect unmatched levels of style, comfort, and durability. The natural materials and unique manufacturing techniques provide superior quality to other upholstery products. Leather has properties which make it superior to other upholstery materials. One of those properties is the fact that it is unique in that it will not tear along the seam lines, or easily rip as some other fabrics do. Some leather alternatives’ quality decreases over time, allowing the material to get thin and brittle making it easier to rip and tear. Through the dyeing process, colors are absorbed by the leather so they will not rub off or fade.

Leather is one of the only materials that is fire resistant, and emits no toxic fumes, even when exposed to intense heat. Modern leather will not crack or peel; instead it stretches and retains its shape without sagging. Leather also offers aspects of pure comfort that far exceeds other fabrics, making it a practical and stylish material. Leather can also assume body temperature rapidly and become immediately comfortable.

One of the most appealing aspects of leather is that it is designed to age well, meaning over time it actually begins to look even better. If you ever need to clean your leather chair, it is very easy to maintain compared to chairs with a fabric or mesh material. Stains will come out much easier, with just a quick wipe with a damp cloth.

Each leather working is unique. Just like a fingerprint, every single piece of leather has its own individual characteristics. Each feature reflects the leather’s natural origins and path from its creation to your home. Markings such as scars, wrinkles, and grain variations, add character and individuality to your furniture and will show you that your leather is of the top quality level.

With so many benefits and features that come embedded in a leather office chair, it is no wonder why these chairs are so appealing.

Office Furniture Industry News

by richard on Mar.10, 2005, under Office Funiture

Most healthcare organizations will agree–the responsibility for ordering medical supplies has grown more complex and time-intensive than ever before. Doctors and professionals that bill insurance, HMO’s or Medicare & Medicaid know how the payment cycle of the industry works. Basically, hurry up and wait, is the call of the day. It is not uncommon for a medical professional to send a bill to an insurance company and has to wait 30, 90 or even 120 days before they get paid. In the meantime, the office needs to pay employees and suppliers.

When you hear the term “office supplies,” you usually think of products such as pens, paper, paperclips, and staples. Everyone always forgets that the office & cleaning supplies used in offices are also considered part of the Medical supply category. The cleaning supplies used in the office can include dusters, vacuum cleaners, rags, and cleaning solvents for desks and computer monitors. These products are a necessary part of a business. Even with their high level of importance, these products are usually under appreciated, as well as often forgotten.

The reason these products are generally forgotten is because cleaning is usually seen as a lower form of work. People who work in an office are generally all highly educated and have a certain status symbol. People who work in the cleaning industry are usually seen as simple laborers who do not have a high level of education. When people think of office workers, they usually think of the person wearing a suit working in cubicle using the computer. People generally will not even think about those who come in and keep the office clean.

For starters, there is the furniture we use for our work. There are more kinds of furniture for work purposes than we probably need. But then again, maybe we do. Take your standard desk. Well, maybe not so standard. There are many kinds of desks. Desks with drawers, desks without drawers, which are primarily made simply to keep stuff on. What kind of stuff? All kinds. Printers, computers, fax machines, telephones, and the list go on and on.

Of course desks come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. There are rectangular desks, square desks; oval or circular desks which are used mostly for those company meetings. There are big desks that can span half a room and small desks that can fit in the corner. Then of course your have your L shaped desks so that you and a co worker can work together without getting in each other’s way. The variety of medical office supplies available is endless. A proper fit for every customer is available.

Office Chair Mats Walmart

Conjunctivitis is an inflammation of the conjunctiva, the thin mucous membrane covering the majority of the eye-ball and lining the eyelids. The disease is common amongst children, largely because of their tendency to rub their eyes when they are tired – even though their hands are dirty. This can lead to the virus infection known as pink eye.

There are two types of conjunctivitis, acute and chronic. Acute conjunctivitis can be due to a virus or to bacteria, in which cases it is highly contagious – or to irritant chemicals. It may also be an allergic reaction, as in hay fever. Chronic conjunctivitis is caused by the same things as the acute form of the disorder. It is often found in places associated with air pollution, such as Los Angeles in the USA. Amongst other victims are students and the elderly, whose eyes dry up somewhat through age.

Both forms of conjunctivitis are usually fairly easy to treat, but there is one exception – trachoma. This is a very severe, highly contagious viral conjunctivitis, which is reasonably common in most parts of the underdeveloped world. It is the only form of conjunctivitis likely to lead to blindness.

Physical symptoms

The nature of the conjunctiva varies according to which parts of the eye it is covering; it lines both the upper and lower lids and the visible part of the eye. The palpebral – eyelid -  parts are thick and opaque, with a generous blood supply. At the margins of the lids, these run into the skin; they are also continuous with the linings of the tear ducts and the passages from the eyes to the nose. Over the front of the eye, the conjunctiva consists only of epithelial cells – a thin, see-through covering.

When the conjunctiva is inflamed, the eyes are red and watery, with the redness stretching towards the cornea. There may be a purulent discharge. The lids may be swollen, while the eyes feel as though there is grit under the lids as the watery secretions of the inflamed membrane become thicker. Sometimes the edges of the eyelids may become inflamed and red; this is known as blepharitis.

Diagnosis and treatment

Conjunctivitis is fairly easy to diagnose. In mild cases, the complaint responds to routine home treatment through eye irrigation and eye ointment or drops. If only one eye is infected, it is obviously important to prevent the infection spreading to the other eye. This is best done by observing the rules of simple hygiene and using disposable tissues and towels. If you are using drops, take care not to infect one eye with material from the other. You should avoid touching your face and wiping it with towels used by other people.

Cold compresses and dark glasses are comforting. In acute cases, you will probably be given antibiotic eye drops by your doctor, who will also check that there is no mechanical cause of the infection, such as a trapped eyelash or embedded particle of dirt. Steroid drops are frequently prescribed for allergic conjunctivitis and bring considerable relief. They will probably contain an anti-fungal agent, such as neomycin.

The outlook is good in conjunctivitis, apart from trachoma. If this is suspected, the doctor will refer you to a specialist for expert treatment of the infection.

Home Office Furniture Wood Veneer

by richard on Mar.07, 2005, under Home Offices

Most kitchens today are already providing what used to be the living room’s main purpose – entertainment and relaxation. These contain cabinets, which provide storage and beauty to the entire kitchen space.

The pre-20th century homes did not have any of the comfort, amenities and cabinets found in today’s kitchen. The kitchens in America prior to the 20th century were equipped with closet pantries, built in cold larders and freestanding furniture. Most often there were tall hutches that served to provide additional storage for food supply and dinnerware. In the center was a long harvest table, which usually served as the food preparation area. A cast iron or large stone sink served as an area for cleaning and washing the dishes.

With the advent of the 20th century came a lot of changes in the way people live. There was the post-war housing boom that created major changes in the way kitchens were built and furnished. The eating habits of most Americans also underwent changes. People became too busy and they wanted quick food preparation. This resulted to the consumption of more packaged foods. Together with the post-war housing boom and new eating habits of Americans, the kitchen’s basic concept underwent a major evolution.

Cabinetmakers began to specialize in building kitchen and bath cabinets. Most of them abandoned traditional furniture making and focused on the newfound specialization. They began building kitchen cabinets made of plywood as the basic material. Tall hutches, pantry rooms and the long harvest tables began to disappear and were replaced with cabinets. The 20th century America began to enjoy the new face of their kitchen. It now consisted of contiguous runs of upper and lower cabinets with a work counter most often made of plastic laminate. These cabinets ran along the walls of the kitchen.

With the new kitchen cabinet specialization came along new techniques, tools and materials to serve the demand. New cabinet materials like hardwood veneer plywood, medium density fiberboard and other man made sheet goods became readily available in most building materials stores. New cutting tools, edge banding and joining tools also became available. A lot of new hardware started coming out of the market. Hardware used for hanging cabinets, door hinges and shelf supports. Additionally, new developments were made for hardware used in hanging cabinet doors and for drawing the boxes in and out of the cabinets. New innovations were also made for various fixtures including slide out bins, tilt out sink trays, baskets and various shelving. All these new developments in hardware and fixtures added to the convenience and adaptability of the 20th century kitchen.

The new tools and kitchen building materials meant good news to woodworkers and enthusiasts who wanted to build their own kitchen cabinets. The wide availability of these products made their work easier, quicker and more accurate. Mail order tool supplies also became readily available. Tools including guide drill bits for fitting installation, jigs and biscuit joinery tools all helped for the quick assembly of the kitchen cabinets.

The primary goal of most cabinetmakers is construction efficiency. All the new tools, materials and fixtures helped in providing cabinetmakers the necessary requirements to build their kitchen cabinets and attain their goal. Today, we all savor and enjoy the comforts and functions of our kitchens. From the very basic harvest table, hutch and pantry rooms, we now have well functioned and organized kitchen spaces.

Office Chair Casters Hardwood

office chair casters hardwood

Do you have a coffee table that needs a facelift? What about tiling your coffee table.

My parents gave me a coffee table very old man who was sitting in his basement for 30 years. It is a beautiful piece of furniture, so he accepted the gift.

The coffee table had a cover glass on it. I went to remove cover to clean glass and smashed. I would replace it and I thought why not do something different with it.

I decided to tile it. The options for a table tiles are many. You can mosaic tiles, broken tiles, or in any other way imaginable.

My decision was to use marble. I bought 12 8in. size marble tiles in orange. Then I bought 28 4in. marble tile in two colors, orange and green.

I selected the glue that works for both wood and marble. The back of the queue will give you that information. It is important to use the correct adhesives for wood and the tile you are using.

After clearing the table, spread the adhesive and place the larger pictures first. The largest mosaic I put in the middle of the table. Then each tile smaller place around great pictures. Let the adhesive set for about 30 minutes.

After the adhesive is set, now you can grout your table. If you do not want your wood in ruins, make sure the tape any exposed wood before you begin to grout.

Grout your table using the grout color of your choice. I Dorian Gray, as I believe coincides with the two colors of tiles you chose.

Sponge for its excess grout and allowed to harden for 30 minutes. A haze covers her upper tiles after grout has hardened, take a clean cloth and clean your mosaic opacities. Let the grout harden completely over 24 hours. After the grout has hardened, seal your tile. I used a high gloss sealer, but there are many different sealers you can choose.

Let your embossing for 24 hours and now has a beautiful, durable, easy to clean coffee table.
