Office Chair Extension
by richard on Jan.29, 2003, under Office Chairs
Years ago, I was on the decorations committee for a large event. Connie was committee chair. For five months, she planned elaborate decorations. Occasionally she asked committee members for help finding odd objects or materials. Other than that we had little involvement until the day of the event when all fifteen members of the committee were asked to be at the site from 9 am until 3 pm to put the decorations in place.
At 9 am, she arrived with a car full of boxes and crates and bolts of fabric and on and on. Our first task was to help unload her car. We stacked all the items just inside the door of the room in which the event was being held, then stood and waited for our next assignment. Connie turned and looked at the fifteen of us eagerly waiting – looked at the stack we made – then impatiently told us we had stacked everything right where she was going to build a decorative volcano. So our next task was to move all the boxes and crates and bolts of fabric again, after which we sat and waited for the next set of instructions.
Every now and then, Connie would come grab one of us and ask for help with this or that. My job was to go find an extension cord. But for the most part, we just sat and watched her scurry around. At this rate, there was no way we would be ready by party time. If Connie could have drawn a diagram showing us the layout of the room – we could have seen her vision. If she could have made a list of all the tasks and then assigned them to her crew of fifteen, we would have each known our role in accomplishing this vision. If she wasn’t sure we could do our tasks just right, perhaps she could have shown us a picture or make a model.
For example – she could have draped and decorated just one of the 100 tables and it would’ve taken no time for us to decorate each of the 100 tables to her specifications. Though we suggested this several times – she didn’t do it. Maybe she didn’t know how. Maybe she was too nervous or tense about the coming event. Or maybe she just didn’t have time. But there was a large crew of underutilized people there to help her. And she was wasting their time. One by one, each grew frustrated and left to take care of all the other things he or she needed to do that day. Eventually Connie was alone to finish the job and barely finished in time for the event to start. She was angry about it and told others that her committee members were slack and uncommitted to the organization. On the contrary, they were very committed. They just didn’t know what to do because they didn’t know the vision, nor the plan, nor their role in making that vision come true. And so – they quit.
You’ve probably seen this happen before. Unfortunately, this is often where the story ends, with people either literally quitting their jobs or perhaps worse, staying but doing nothing. At least in Connie’s story, the workers were volunteers (ie no wasted payroll)! And at least Connie’s story had a happy ending – at least partially. ***** When everyone returned for the event later that evening, the room looked beautiful. Some even described it as “breathtaking.” Connie was proud. Her vision for the room wasn’t just a daydream. She had made it materialize. But the process was a nightmare for everyone else. And the event itself was a nightmare for Connie who was too exhausted and too angry to enjoy it.
Have you ever been in this situation? Not much fun, huh? Have you ever managed a project team the way Connie did in this story? I have. Cringe to think about it. And sincerely apologize to those who had to endure it. People want to help, to work hard, to make a difference. Though they have dreams of their own – they are also willing to help you achieve yours. But first – they must know what yours are.

If you spend a significant part of your working day sitting at a desk or working at a computer, you will readily appreciate the benefits that come from ergonomic office furniture. It can help protect you from physical stress by encouraging good posture, correct placement of the knees and feet and the use of properly positioned items such as a keyboard or mouse.
Employers will recognize the advantages in terms of productivity and reduced absenteeism that stem from equipping their offices with the right furniture. And it isn’t just a question of ensuring that your workforce feels comfortable: stress related injuries such as lower back problems, RSI or carpal tunnel syndrome may perhaps be avoided by selecting desks, chairs and other frequently used items that are designed to promote both health and productivity.
I recently spent some time working in an office away from my usual spot, and one of the most frustrating aspects of this temporary relocation was the fact that the chair that had been provided for me was so uncomfortable. Ironically, the office furniture was new and several of my co-workers reported that they were very happy with the chairs. But my problem was the fact that I couldn’t sufficiently adjust the height or the angle of the seat to suit my own needs — and thus needed to stand up regularly and stretch to compensate for the awkwardness of the posture I was adopting. Eventually, I managed to get the chair changed — but in the interim, my work flow was regularly interrupted until a better designed alternative was found.
Ergonomics can be defined as the science of how people and their work fit together. And my experience highlights the fact that individual requirements vary, and that good office furniture ought to be adjustable to match the user and the tasks they perform. The height of a desk or seat, the position of armrests or the placement of commonly used items around a cubicle or office can all have a major influence on a worker’s comfort.
Of course, no office furniture can be a cure-all for the problems that come from bad postural habits or faults such as the incorrect use of a computer keyboard. Some people will slouch in a chair whatever its design. Office workers need to be educated and encouraged to adopt a sitting position that avoids muscular strain. Many people have found therapies such as the Alexander technique to be of great help in curing bad habits and reducing stiffness or tension.
Intelligent design of a office space and well-chosen furniture can promote productivity as well as employees’ comfort and satisfaction. The right selection of an office desk and chair, document storage such as a 4 drawer filing cabinet and computer equipment are all important choices in helping create a positive working environment. How do I transfer ownership of my house to my business name and have the mortgage company consent?
I want to purchase another home and rent out my first first home. I want to start investing in properties but I want to do it under a business name.
You essentially need to sell it to your business, you can’t transfer the mortgage, you will need to refinance under your business entity.

Office Chair Headrest

Since first appearing in some 300-some years in France, the chaise longue has come a long way in the design of form. Since the first model Recamier changes came as the Brisée duchess and the Meridienne. Today, the chaise longue has also crossed over into the outer domain, where it enjoys a good dose of popularity in gardens, balconies and in backyards. Here are some differences between indoor and outdoor chairs.
Far from the likes of the prototypes original, stray dogs outdoor chaise lounge from the strict definition of what the place really should be similar. In the translation, simply means the chaise longue a hammock in French, and so applies to any number of chairs outdoors. The lines begin to blur here, since some pieces of outdoor furniture, the chaise lounge, recliners and hammocks on everything, really difficult to differentiate. The main parties are the support and the ability to become almost supine with the legs above the ground. Beyond that, there is a definite amount of crossing that should only be accepted.
The framework for an outdoor sofa can be made from a wide range of furniture construction materials. The only condition is that something must be weatherproof. Wood that has been treated and varnished usually lasts a long time with the appropriate amount of maintenance, like metal. For elegance and traditional design, a wrought iron frame is beautiful, but also arguably heavy. An aluminum frame does not refer to the same elegance, but is much lighter and more modern look. Both are subject to oxidation after some time.
Plastics and resin as polywood are relatively recent and are ideal for use in patio furniture.
They are durable, relatively cheap and have been shaped to resemble the more expensive traditional materials like wood and concrete. Although more fragile, wicker is a popular choice, but is not intended be completely outdoors, unprotected from the elements. Keep your wicker lounge chair under a covered porch or deck will stay away from rain and excessive light direct sun. For the inside of the frame buffer supports like the leash and harness are often used. These are strong and generally of a waterproof nylon or plastic. As for innovation, zero gravity chair is built for maximum comfort and therefore its user can relax more fully, without putting any extra pressure anywhere in the body, especially in the seat.
The cushions of a couch outdoors should also be resistant to water and a certain amount of moisture rain, snow and drizzle expected. Inside, a mixture polyfill, it is also water resistant interior cushions.
The chaise longue cover is recognized as the appropriate definition to the extent appearance. The basic design of a car is a type of sofa, looking furniture that is actually like a chair to extend with at least one headrest and one's ability to rest and elevate the feet. Several styles come with dual headrest, attached arms, and some also come with game, footrest separately.
The cushion filling a chair inside is much like any other piece of upholstered indoor furniture. Where is the outer covering beauty is usually especially as the chaise longue is intended to convey the opulence, and this is often reflected in expensive materials like satin and velvet. Leather and microsuede two materials are especially luxurious. Apart from the cushioning material, accompaniment patterns and colors that adorn it are beautiful and endless. Solid, color block print of Asia, Paisley, whatever. If you do not like is a chaise longue is upholstered as easily as an old sofa or chair.
Originally, the frameworks for the chaise lounge chairs first used in the classrooms was made of wood. Variations in the deck chairs also caused a deckchair mobile made of metal used by the French army. This post was portable and can be folded and unfolded. Today, most still frames chaise lounge interior are made of wood, some of which is carved. But there are also loungers chair with metal frame, which are not as portable or folding, like their predecessors. To indoor use, it is assumed that the President will not move very often, so weight and ease of movement are not top priority.
